William Tager
Guy Lochhead, 11/09/10
American man who assaulted journalist and anchorman Dan Rather in 1986, and murdered Campbell Montgomery, an NBC technician, in 1994, because of his belief that television networks were watching him and sending him signals. In 1996, he was sentenced to a maximum of 25 years imprisonment for 1st degree manslaughter. His repeated shouting of “Kenneth, what is the frequency?” while assaulting Rather has been referenced many times in pop culture, by Game Theory, R.E.M. and Pen & Mallet. Although this guy was clearly pretty ill, you could see his beliefs as an extension of the actual media bias that every TV watcher is subjected to. I reckon it’d be REALLY FUNNY to include a biased TV station called Tager, and perhaps reference the whole bizarre “Kenneth” thing too. Ha ha ha.
