Malawian inventor. Kamkwamba had to drop out of education when his family couldn’t afford the tuition fees. He got a book from the library about renewable energy and built windmills to power a few electrical appliances in his family’s house, using only scrap parts and natural materials. He has also built a solar-powered pump for drinking water, bicycle-powered radios, and is planning more windmills in nearby villages.
Truly inspirational. Brilliant! I will include ‘The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind’, with a view to updating this inclusion if anything even more interesting comes out before I make the programmes.
