“The first American black metal band”. Formed in 1987 and disbanded in 1992, Von were very influential upon the second wave of black metal. They released two albums – Satanic Blood and Blood Angel. Von are definitely one of my favourite black metal groups, but I don’t see any reason to include bands based around praising a made-up baddie. Best pseudonyms ever though – Goat, Kill, Snake and Blood!
