A constructed language created by Johann Martin Schleyer in 1880. It was an early international language, created after Schleyer dreamt god demanded its invention. It is based in German and French languages, and is therefore more exclusive than other IALs. Schleyer was fiercely defensive of his proprietary rights to the language, which prevented any reform, and led to a decline in its popularity. Its basis in Christianity, gendered pronouns and verb forms, and Schleyer’s pigheadedness rule this out for me.
