‘The ultimate rock’n’roll read’. Established in 1983, and run by Mike Stax, ‘Ugly Things’ is dedicated to uncovering ‘wild sounds from past dimensions’, and is published irregularly – whenever each issue’s finished.
Ugly Things must be commended and acknowledged as an invaluable resource for researching old garage bands, but I don’t really like that sort of unwillingness to move on. Modern garage band clones are very boring. I don’t want to include this magazine, because there are other magazines that uncover interesting music from all time periods, and don’t rely on ‘60s throwback design modelling.
