José Álvarez was a Spanish singer and artist. Casal had a multifaceted career; involved in music and art on many levels, and using his career to boost the success of others’ (notably Pedro Almadovar). He died in a car crash on a way home from a Madrid disco. Casal may have been a bit benevolent with his fame, but he hardly made his name as that. He was a popstar and a painter, and I don’t think I want to include him (I’m ignoring the fact I think his music’s crap).
