Thérèse Casgrain

French-Canadian politician and activist. Casgrain led the women’s suffrage movement in Quebec before World War I. Over her long and successful political career (which only ended when she reached the mandatory retirement age of 75), Casgrain campaigned against nuclear arms, conscription and mandatory retirement, and for women’s rights, aboriginal rights and aid for Vietnam war victims. Casgrain was incredible. It’s difficult to know what of hers to include. She wrote a book called ‘A Woman in a Man’s World’, but I don’t know if there’s something better to include. I’ll read it and find out…
