The Nosebleeds
Guy Lochhead, 11/09/10
One-single Manchester punk band formed in 1976 and significant for the individual successes of its members. Throughout numerous line-up changes, the group included Vini Reilly (Durutti Column), Edmund Garrity (Ed Banger) and Morrissey. If I’m not going to to include the later, more well-respected work of the members it’s famous for (which I’m probably not), it’d be perverse to include this group as an important stepping-stone sort of thing (which is really the reason for its notability). It’s alright music, but they’re really just excited bandwagon-jumpers – as were a lot of UK punk groups around ’77/’78..
