London rock band founded on Hornsey Rise Council Estate in North London by Eddy Grant in 1965. Proudly multiracial (see the name), they were one of the only prominent racially integrated bands in the UK in the ’60s. They had major European success with ‘Baby Come Back’ in 1969 but are perhaps best known for ‘Black Skinned Blue Eyed Boys’. In 1971, Grant became ill and left for Guyana. The band continued to play but never had the same success. They split in 1979.
