American film director and writer. He is known for is adaptations of difficult novels, including ‘The Right Stuff’ and ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’. Kaufman is known for approaching his filmmaking from a more independent, ‘intelligent’ viewpoint than his Hollywood contemporaries. However, his work is mostly adaptations of existing texts. I’d rather include these. Also, he is just a Hollywood filmmaker.
