Schrader is a screenwriter and director of the New Hollywood school of filmmaking. Among his directorial features are ‘American Gigolo’ and ‘Patty Hearst’. He has written many films including ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Raging Bull’. He also famously wrote his thesis on ‘Transcendental Style In Film: Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer’.
Schrader is a consistently exciting writer and director, but I don’t want to include his films. They don’t make me want to do stuff, they just make me want to watch more. His films are just good films.
