New York-based ‘dream pop’ played by romantically linked vocalist Parker Noon and pianist Lily Wolfe. The two were local favourites around NYC clubs like the Knitting Factory and CBGB’s after forming in 2000. They broke up in 2004, and so did the band.
Occasionally, Parker’s lyrics are exciting microcosms of early-relationship role-taking, but after a while it wears thin and reveals itself as coffee and alcohol-soaked rock ‘n’ roll cliche. Those gender roles are worth dropping. Parker The Man sings about drinking and taking girls to eat “every night of the week”. Lily The Woman “bats her eyelashes… blows a kiss.”
