Widely considered the best living American filmmaker. Scorcese’s films are marked by their New York-based Catholic Italian American men seeking redemption. He has directed ‘Mean Streets’, ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Raging Bull’ and ‘Goodfellas’, among many other successes. Scorcese’s films are really, really good films, but they’re too anchored in one gender in one race in one city for me to want to include them in my programmes. If I was to include something of his, it’d be ‘A Personal Journey with Martin Scorcese Through American Movies’, but instead I will just use the knowledge I gained from it and apply it to my own filmmaking.
