American psychedelic band led by Arthur Lee. Best known for ‘Da Capo’ and ‘Forever Changes’. Love were one of the first popular racially-diverse music groups in America. Both of those well-known albums were released in 1967. The band imploded in 1968 in a mess of bickering and drug addiction. Lee remained the sole member, pulling together various groups and working solo on a number of poorly-received albums until he was imprisoned in 1995 for firearms offences. In 2009, the only living members “reformed” the band (without Lee) and continue to tour as Love. A strange band fronted by a strange man, who had some great songs. Still, too weird and fucked up to include.
