English Hollywood director probably best known for ‘Deliverance’. He started making television documentaries, before directing feature films in various genres. Boorman’s output lacks focus and consistency. I don’t think ‘Deliverance’ had to be made. It’s a good film, but it doesn’t matter very much. He writes critiques of the current Hollywood system, but doesn’t actively counter it.
