American comic book artist, teacher, illustrator and painter who is perhaps best known in comics for ‘Jack Survives’, about a man called Jack clinging to his dignity, and outside comics for his paintings. Personally, I think a lot of Moriarty’s work is really funny, sad and profound. His panels are as well-composed as an Edward Hopper painting, and similarly manage to capture that same American essence, but he’s really a comic artist’s favourite comic artist, and not the most interesting to approach fresh.
