Gustave Trouvé

Pioneering French engineer. Bizarrely overlooked, despite his many inventions. He made the first ornithopter, first outboard motor (which was electric!), which he then adapted to make the first electric car in 1880. He also made the first ‘practical’ endoscope, 13 years before Edison’s ‘Mignon’. He was very modest, which is perhaps a reason for his obscurity. I don’t know how to include him, because there is so little (English-language at least) information, but I’d like to.
