George Lucas
Guy Lochhead, 13/07/10
American big-budget filmmaker, best known for the ‘Star Wars’ films and ‘American Graffiti’. His first film ‘THX 1138’, is perhaps the closest to Lucas’ own worldview, as the Star Wars films were far more of a collaborative effort. I love the Star Wars films, but I don’t find Lucas to be an especially inspiring person. His oblique spirituality and his nerdy hang-ups are annoying. Also, he’s made some pretty dubious decisions about the development of the Star Wars franchise. If I was to include one of his films, it would either be ‘American Graffiti’ or ‘THX 1138’,but I won’t, because American Graffiti is too whimsical, and THX doesn’t make sense.
