American journalist best known for writing ‘Frank Sinatra Has a Cold’, often cited as on of the first examples of ‘New Journalism’. He combines standard journalistic content about his subject with ‘behind-the-scenes’ information on how easy the interviews were to set up, whether the story was accepted by the editor, etc.
Talese is an important figure in the history of American journalism, but he has recently lost his edge. ‘Frank Sinatra Has a Cold’ is a great piece of writing, but I don’t feel a need to include it here.
