White House correspondent, the first woman to join the Caterpillar Club, and a co-founder of the Ninety-Nines. She believed in the ability of flight and planting trees to encourage international friendship. She founded the International Forest of Friendship, and helped found the Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarships. She scouted Africa for a site for a Jewish homeland, and designed yacht interiors. I think she’s a totally amazing woman, but her story doesn’t capture my attention like some other stories have. Plus, I don’t feel good about including the Jewish homeland thing.
