Baltimore-based artist who recreates her childhood imaginings in real masks, drawings and Super-8 films. I like her imagination and ability to conjure up old beasts, but her style is too clean. The outlines may represent childhood concerns, but the surface and materials are too hip. For me, they need more varicose veins, parents’ clothes and unidentifiable bodily fluids. Also, why use Super-8? It’s a lazy aesthetic decision.
