Edna St. Vincent Millay
Guy Lochhead, 06/07/10
American poet and playwright. She insisted on being called Vincent as a child. She had some of her poetry published in the anthology ‘Current Literature’ by the age of 15. She received the Pulitzer Prize in 1923, the first woman to be awarded the award. She is best known for her poem ‘First Fig’. I think Millay sounds like a very interesting child, but I’m not that into her later work. I struggle with poetry at the best of times, and feel like I don’t want to include ‘poets’ unless they are truly, truly exceptional.
