New Zealand rock band formed in 2003. Their eponymous 2005 debut album was recorded by Steve Albini, and has a characteristically raw, anti-human sound. I really enjoyed some of these songs – particularly Blinding – and almost any project Albini’s getting involved in is good fun, but it’s just more loud, fast, melodic rock music. Interestingly, antipodean proto-punk group The Saints were next on this list. It’s interesting (and a bit disappointing) to compare the two bands..
