American comedian who writes his own stand-up and material for ‘The Daily Show’. He takes an intelligent-seeming, pseudo-scientific approach to stand-up, using graphs and flipcharts to complement his jokes. He had his breakthrough with an autobiographical solo show called ‘If I’, in which he talked about his life through different meanings of the word ‘if’. Since then, he has appeared in many films and music videos and his own series ‘Important Things With Demetri Martin’. I find this guy so, so annoying. The “intelligent” stuff revels in its own smug “intelligence”, and isn’t even that clever. Oh gawd.
