American whistle-blowing website that has been publishing “sensitive” correspondence since 1996. It has been in trouble and taken down a few times but is still going. One of the owners of the site, architect John Young, is keen that it steers clear of Wikileaks-style publicity, accusing that website of “pimping out” information for their own gain, even at the expense of its sources. To my naive mind, whistleblowing is an integral part of an honest, accountable society. Cryptome is inspirational for its resilience and unwavering ethics. I’m not sure how to include them, but I should.
