American comic book artist. Creator of the ‘Jimmy Corrigan’ and ‘Acme Novelty Library’ series, among others. His immensely detailed, precise drawing style transcends the medium, with fold-out parts, comics-within-comics, schematics and maps being included into the texture of the page. Ware’s comics appealed to me as an early-teen, and I believe they have the power to hold the attention of any age. The interactivity, and the complex emotional depths of his stories merit his inclusion. He makes beautiful story maps, as impressive visually as they are narratively.
