English late ’90s indie rock band formed by Luke Haines (Auteurs, Baader Meinhof), John Moore (Jesus And Mary Chain) and Sarah Nixey. Their sound was quite unique – whispered, creepy female vocals, orchestration and electric organ drum machine. The lyrics were cynical but resigned. They released two albums and rolled on for a while before splitting in 2010. I really like Luke Haines and pretty much everything he does, but I don’t feel like this qualifies inclusion as it’s just a pretty good group. They had some great songs and some not-so-good. I will continue enjoying ‘England Made Me’ though.
