Bernard Quartermass
Guy Lochhead, 21/05/10
Recurring television and film character originally created by Nigel Kneale in 1953 as a representation of science that was different from the American sci-fi scientist, ‘chewing gum and stating the obvious’. Quartermass has been called a manifestation of science and humanity, and Britain’s first television hero. Include a picture of the original Quartermass, played by Reginald Tate, in one of the programmes.
