Ann-Sofi Sidén
Guy Lochhead, 05/12/12
Swedish artist whose traditional, painterly education has expanded to incorporate many media and themes. She works alone but makes art about meeting people. She often goes to unfamiliar places, and sometimes that travelling forms her work. A recurrent character is the Queen of Mud – Sidén naked and covered in mud – performing in primitive but inoffensive ways that challenge ideas of acceptable human behaviour. With a body of work as broad as hers, it’s probable that I’d enjoy some of it and see some of it as pointless.
