Super-prolific early film director best known for his 1922 ‘Robin Hood’ with Douglas Fairbanks. Dwan was very much a studio system man. He did what he was told to, and is quoted as saying ‘if you get your head up above the mob, they try to knock it off. If you stay down, you last forever.’ A shame, because I quite like ‘Robin Hood’.
