Underground rock enigma Roky Erickson’s second band, and possibly the first psychedelic band. They formed in Texas in 1965, and are best known for their amazing single ‘You’re Gonna Miss Me’ and Tommy Hall’s ‘electric jug’ percussion. They toured outside of their home state, and were incredibly popular in underground music circles, but Erickson’s arrest for possession of marijuana, and subsequent plead for commission to a state mental hospital rather than a jail sentence, effectively broke up the band in 1969, and led to the mental health problems Erickson faced later in his life. Too stoned.
